  • Aqua Vitae / Bug Out

Aqua Vitae (2013) Distillation system, Stirling electrical generator, Hordeum vulgare (barley), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast), Carassius auratus (Black Moor Goldfish), deep sea audio recordings of black smoker hydrothermal vent. Bug Out (2013) Whiskey, bottles, cement, biaxial rotation machine, bow and arrow. Aqua Vitae and Bug Out stand at the intersection of ancient biology, global folklore, modern technology, and overreaching politics of control. The shambolic installation combines multiple threads of inquiry from a year's research into the production of alcohol and its deep and multifaceted history.
